Feature Request: User Generation of a Template Google Site
- I have to set-up Google Sites for 121 working and expanding afterwards to other people. I made a Google Site that I'm using as a Template with some 10 pages that always come back for that purpose. But it's just a workaround, because whenever I have to set-up a new Google Site (Virtual Office) with and for someone, I have to copy paste every of those 10 pages 1 by 1.
  It would of course be easier if there would be a kind of copy/paste function so I can duplicate/save as a that whole Template site of course.

Get feedback from the "rest of the world" not just Americans (maybe we have some ideas too ;-).?Isn't wikis all about collaborative thinking anyway Let the world in on Google Sites and I am sure it will benefit everyone involved!?

Contact form that emails the message.?? Using a standard spreadsheet form, you can subscribe to new additions that people make in the Google Docs replies list - which can e-mails you updates regarding the form anyway, similar to being sent an e-mail from viewers in the first place. Hope that helps.

Everything is great except that I cant duplicate a page. This is OK for the most part, but not with lists. I have a checklist I use every month. I need to be able to duplicate the page so I don't have to either uncheck everything or recreate the list.
Custom order of subpages - thread
- Re-assign Home Page - once one page is designated as the home page, nothing can supplant it. done
- The current method of reorganizing the site pages is painful and slow. Use a GUI method to 'drag and drop'

CSS - Limited: If full CSS is going to cause security\branding issues then I would suggest allowing over-riding of fundamental hml css elements (at least fonts and colours). That is the standard tags in the <body>. Example, to demonstrate command line commnds allow us to specify that css elements in form <pre>cd <b>[target_directory]</b></pre> to render as
cd [target_directory]
where the background for <pre> is black and <pre><b> renders as bold and orange.
Please add pre tag button to the WYSIWYG editor. We find pre tag useful for code or command lines.
More layouts: Now we only have single and two columns.? It would be nice if there can be options of columns having different width.
Treat pages like a list so that you can create custom fields for each page and create views?which show a list of?pages (i.e. automatically create table of contents by having adding a Topic drop down field and then creating a view that groups pages by the Topic)
Support an approval concept where certain users have the ability to post, but other users have the ability to approve before content is published to everyone else. (second this)
The ability to set Permalink type access to pages - so that when pages are moved within the Site but accessed from links stored out of the Site the page can still be retrieved without having to go to the "page not found" screen

- Recently Updated Files: show file description instead of file name (because file name is sometimes too short and may not be able to describe the content of the file)
- More advanced sorting options and some filtering options. Eg. for a recent list items, it would be great to sort by a date field in descending order (So the latest entry would be on top). For e.g. task lists, it would be useful to be able to only let tasks where the "completed" check box? is false show up on the "recent list items" gadget. tread

Fix editor when Site color scheme is set to light color text on a dark background (text "disappears" when editing, because the editor background color is white, and so is the text. Workaround - don't use a White color font on a Dark Background on your site settings.?
Allow color changes to "Attachments and Comments" Footer section - they are stuck as a white background. No good if your theme uses a Dark background color? Also, the top bar of a "lists" page stays the same blue color. (seconded!)
Color and style are everything. The limited themes are pathetic, even Yahoo Geocities offers more, albeit primarily high school or cute-sy in nature. GPA offered far more, and I loved the layouts a lot. Websites should be visually memorable, and that is difficult to achieve with the limitations in creative options that I'm seeing thus far with Google Sites. Am I missing something? It is VERY frustrating. (second this)
Also, I keep getting the familiar message "unsafe tags" etc when I try to apply a scrolling marquee text bar as suggested on a website tutorial. This, too, is visually memorable, and has been requested by 3 clients of mine this past week alone. Suggestions? (second this)

- (20/10/08) Ability to add a Login Box to the landing page of a publicly viewable site (...as a gadget?).
  - Preferably: Login box would allow users to request to become a collaborator/viewer. (At present one must locate the extremely small sign in link at the bottom of the page, go to the sign in page, then gets forwarded back to the fully viewalbe site. However, there appears to be no way to request to join the publicly viewable site to be a collaborator).
- Google Apps Administrator rights in Google Sites
  - Check the space (already available in domain settings for apps users. available in normal Sites version as of.......now)

- 11/24/08 - Please, please do this next. I want to add very computer unaware users who will create havoc without this.
- 12/08/08: I third this. IMHO greatest and most urgent current limitation in Google Sites. As interim solution I can create a second "public" site. But then Sites should allow my "recent posts/list items" gadgets to refer to pages in other sites!
- Ability to assign one or more categories to a page to allow per user category rights for viewing, editing etc.
- Not sure on the count here, but I vehemently agree! The security limits are my biggest hold up right now.

Session Timeout
- Similar to Admin Control Panel. This way sensitive intranet material is more safe from users not signing out or browser windows left open.

Adding a fourth security group that allows viewers the ability to post comments - thread. ?
- 8/14/08 - I second this! Viewers should be able to leave comments without being able to change site content!!!?

- It would be nice if you could add a level. "Owners", "Collaborators", "NEW LEVEL" and Viewers". This level could Add attachments & comments. But not the other thing that Collaborators can.

- Absolutely agree, there should be additional security around the attachments and comments parts. There are a lot of great suggestions on this doc, but this is basic functionality that is missing. IMHO this is a top priority.

8/14/08 - If a non-member does a web search and finds my PRIVATE site, when they click the link to view, they should get a page saying something like "This is a private site. If you're a member, log in below. Non-members click 'here' to email the site administrator for permission to join." Maybe even have the ability to have them fill out a form giving the reason they want to join. As it is now, I have to have 2 sites: a public one stating that the site is private and the form I mentioned; the other is the private site. (I second this! -elgates)
